"The Jewel In The Crown" is the internationally-acclaimed eight-part series that captures the turbulence, the passion, and the drama of the waning years of British Rule in India. This exquisite human epic received an Emmy for Outstanding Limited Series; a Golden Globe for Best Miniseries; and British Academy of Film and Television Artists Awards for Best Drama Series; Best Actor Tim Pigott-Smith, and Best Actress Fame Peggy Ashcroft. From the first episode to the last, "The Jewel In The Crown" is moved by a cast of memorable characters: Daphne Manners (Susan Woolridge), her lover Hari Kumar (Art Malik), Ronald Merrick (Tim Pigott-Smith), Barbie Batchelor (Dame Peggy Ashcroft), and officer Guy Perron (Charles Dance). This brilliantly interwoven sage tells the story of men and women struggling to adjust to the drastic changes brought about by the end of British colonial rule.
